Call Transfer
The method used to transfer a call from one device to another is dependant on the handset/softphone being used. We will cover the main ones here.
Deskphone
As we mainly support Snom deskphones we will cover transferring functionality with that, but other brands should work in a similar fashion.
Generally most transfers occur after an inbound call is received, but the actions should be the same once an outbound call has been established also.
Attended Transfer
While you have an ongoing call press your 2nd line key (function key) which should present with a dial tone and the ability to make an outbound call. Dial the number you intend to transfer to and press tick . Once you have spoken to the person you intend to transfer to, you can press the transfer button which will join both lines on your handset together allowing your original caller speak to their intended destination, and you will drop out of both calls completely.
Unattended Transfer
This is used when you do not need or wish to speak to the user you are transferring to (perhaps they already know the call is coming). In this case, again while you have an ongoing call, press the transfer button first, then dial the number you wish to transfer to and press tick . This should automatically drop you out of the call and join the original call to the destination you have just dialled.
Softphone
The built in Transfer functionality is generally restricted to paid users of this application, however if you chose the Community Version at install time, you can use the system in built feature codes for transfer.
Attended Transfer
While you have an ongoing call, choose the Dialpad tab, and press *2 to transfer, and dial the number you wish to transfer to. This will allow you to speak to your intended target first, when ready hang up the call and your original caller and will be automatically joined to the destination you have just dialled.
Unattended Transfer
While you have an ongoing call, choose the Dialpad tab, and press ## to transfer, then dial the number you wish to transfer to. This will immediately drop you out of the call and join your original caller to the number you have just dialled where they will hear ringing until that destination answers the call.
Browser Phone
Attended Transfer
You can use the *2 feature code outlined above using the dialplad. This feature has not yet been built directly into the main functionality of the Browser Phone as yet, but will be added in a future release.
Unattended Transfer
While you have an ongoing call, choose the Transfer button, and enter the number you wish to transfer the call to, then click the Transfer Call button. This will immediately drop you out of the call and automatically connect you original caller to the destination number you have just entered.
